What are you taking home today?

Did you know that most people’s hands are still not all that clean even after a good scrub?

Research shows that many areas of the hands are frequently missed, and  it’s the finger tips that are most frequently used, but forgotten when it comes to washing.

Although we manage to scrub away at our palms, more often than not the rest of our hand is not always that clean.

The Infection Prevention & Control team are holding a hand wash road show at both Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital and, as part of the week, they will be demonstrating a hydrometer, which measures how much moisture there is in our hands - even after multiple uses of gels.

Lead infection nurse Jean Robinson, said: " Many people think the gels dry their skin out. Yet the gels contain emollients and don't do and we hope the hydrometer will prove that during roadshow week so there is no excuse not to use the gels."

With competitions and prizes to be won at the event, the roadshow will visit Halifax on the 7th September and Huddersfield on the 14th.
