This year our Fire Safety training was delivered to colleagues using fire safety booklets. All colleagues need to tell us that they have read and understood the booklet by completing a fire safety declaration form through the intranet. Training figures are reported to Executive Board regularly, so they need to be as accurate as possible.

Colleagues can complete their declaration here

Where colleagues do not have access to the intranet, a signed declaration that colleagues have read and understood the booklet can be scanned and sent to Karen.Bates@cht.nhs.uk by managers.

Fire extinguisher training

This is highly recommended for Fire Wardens, Site Commanders , Fire Response Team (Estates, Security, Portering Services) and high risk areas - colleagues can find a list of training dates here. Please contact Karen Bates to book a space. Our Fire Officer Keith Rawnsley can deliver training to teams if required - just drop him an email (see below).

Fire Inspections due soon

CHFT will soon have further inspections from West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (WYF&RS) and they will expect areas to be aware of their own risk assessment.

Whilst our numbers of fire wardens and training has increased it is important we continue to make improvements in terms of fire safety.

All areas have a completed fire risk assessment, which considers the fire risks associated and includes an action plan to reduce the fire risks further.  The responsibility to implement the action plans is at local level and WYF&RS will expect each area to be fully aware of their fire risk assessments and be making attempts to implement their action plans and reduce risks as far as possible.

For anyone requiring further support or advice please contact CHFT’s Fire Officer, Keith Rawnsley Keith.Rawnsley@cht.nhs.uk who is available to assist.
