The Leeds University School of Medicine has announced  Dr Sanjiv Chandratre - our former Director of Medical Education - has been named as a winner of the Excellent Longstanding Service to Undergraduate Clinical Education.

The School makes these prestigious awards annually having assessed nominations against criteria.  The award recognises both excellent long service but also commitment of the individual and recognition from colleagues.

Andy Lockey, current director of Medical Education, said: "Sanjiv Chandratre was my predecessor as Director of Medical Education (2005-2011). He was integrally involved with the education of medical students and personally contributed through bedside and classroom teachings. In 2009, the Trust was awarded Associated Teaching Hospital status by the University of Leeds. This was a reflection of his hard work to ensure that medical students received an enjoyable and educational placement within the Trust. This award is well deserved and I am delighted that he has been recognised for all of his hard work."

He will receive his award at the Third Year Professionalism ceremony on 23 October.  Dr James Garvican nominated Dr Chandratre.
