CHFT’s reputation for innovation has received another boost with the news of a shortlisting in this year’s Medipex awards.

Graham Smith, a senior analyst with the Health Informatics Service, has developed a Microsoft Excel-based software to help with prescribing.

Currently, the Summary Care Record is accessed by means of a SmartCard and password but only, after consent has been given by the patient and is safeguarded by the role of the Privacy Officer, auditing each and every access.

The Microsoft Excel based software now means the auditing process is quicker and more streamlined.

He said: “It is a privilege to have been shortlisted for the Medipex NHS Innovation Awards 2015; fostering innovation in support of patient care.“

The finals will be held in October.
