Four free-of-charge Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points are now up and running at Acre Mills.

Facilities Manager, Jason Busby said “The charge points have been installed in partnership with Kirklees Council and are already on the Charge Your Car network.

“This demonstrates the Trust’s commitment to an eco-friendly approach to travel arrangements and I’m excited that we’re looking to increase our green credentials further in future”.

Other work planned by Jason and the team includes a review of our automatic number plate recognition system to help reduce queuing traffic, lowering emissions and our carbon footprint.

The EV scheme is open to colleagues as well as patients. There is no charge for the power used but the car parking fees for the site do apply.

Patient Allan Worsley from Salendine Nook visited Acre Mills last week and decided to charge his car whilst on site.

He said: “I looked online in advance to see whether there was a charger. I found the charge point really simple to use. I set it to charge before my appointment and when I came out I was ready to go again”.

“There have been huge developments in technology over the past few months and rapid chargers are popping up everywhere”.
