Trainee Nurse Associate, Samantha (Sam) Waddington has been shortlisted for a Student Nursing Times award and will be heading to London in April for the finals.

Sam (pictured middle in white) has been shortlisted in the Nursing Associate Trainee of the Year category.

Ward 5B's Charge Nurse, Laura Jennings, where Sam is currently based said: "Sam was nominated by the Clinical Nurse Educators and I know she is pleased to have been nominated and feels it is a reflection on the ward and the support she has had here.

"Sam has really embraced the TNA role and become an important member of our team, she is a pleasure to work with and her positive attitude and strong work ethic help to keep staff morale high, we are extremely proud of her. We are very lucky to have some wonderful TNAs working on the respiratory floor - they are a great asset to our team."

Sam said: "It was an amazing surprise (and shock) to hear that I had even been nominated, never mind shortlisted for this phenomenal award! I feel very lucky to be a part of something so amazing to represent both CHFT and the University of Huddersfield.

"I am looking forward to representing all the hard work I have put into the TNA role and to show the outstanding support I have received from my clinical educators and from the most caring and compassionate nurses and healthcare’s that I work alongside with on the respiratory ward.

"I feel very privileged to have been chosen to hopefully receive the most fantastic award, not only myself and my colleagues but for our patients at CHFT."

Good luck Sam!
