Staff nurse, on the Stroke Unit, Maria Solon started a family charge to become nurses. Here's her story starting in the Philippines.

Why did you want to become a nurse?

Getting a degree in Pharmacy was my first choice. I grew up helping my aunt in her drug store in the Philippines, but then she encouraged me to study Nursing instead. Since then, all my cousins took up Nursing courses, too. At present, there are 8 nurses in our family.

Why is nursing special career to you?

In the nursing profession, you deal with many aspects of patient care, and I enjoy the variety in the routine. It’s very rewarding when you become a part of and makes a difference in people’s lives daily.
