Meet the Improvers!

Our first graduates from CHFT’s ‘Work Together 2 Improve Quality Improvement training  have  just qualified.

They receive a nationally-recognised qualification in Quality Improvement from NHS Improvement.

The course builds on our popular Work Together Get Results training and is a recipe in The Cupboard.

At the graduation event participants shared updates on their improvement projects and described how they will use what they have learned from the training in the future.

There was some really great feedback from colleagues who came on the course:

  • Community Dietician, Sarah Brook, said: “I’ve learned new project management skills. I will use the tools in future projects for work that may require development on a larger scale, so I am glad to have practiced implementing them on a smaller scale first”.
  •
  • Coronary Care sister, Elizabeth Thornton, said: "The training helped focus my idea and develop a workable, achievable project.  It’s highlighted the importance of clear and consistent expectations within all areas of the project and the project team and most importantly that change is achievable!”
  •
  • Midwifery Reader, Tomasina Stacey, said: “ The course helped provide a greater understanding of Quality Improvement methodology and provided a structured approach to improvement projects”.

Our facilitators  were Quality Governance Lead, Gemma Pickup and Senior Therapist, Hannah Wood. They presented the certificates and as this was the first course they thanked them for being in the  first time facilitating the training.

Gemma, said: “This initial cohort have been great to work with. Their improvement ideas have developed as the course has gone on and it’s been wonderful to see their confidence grow."

“And what’s better is that some are already seeing measurable improvements from their projects which is fantastic news for our patients and for our services”
