Hello my name is…Luke Stockdale.

I moved to Huddersfield from Sheffield in 2011 with my then fiancée Kayleigh when we both got jobs as teachers.  Fast forward nine years we are now married and now have two children Thomas aged five and Emily aged three who keep us extremely busy.   In my spare time I volunteer as a Director for a local Community Group called Pride in Linthwaite where we are trying to make Linthwaite and surrounding areas a better place to live.

What is your position?

Director of Digital Transformation and Innovation. It’s an exciting time to be joining the Digital Health team here at CHFT. My role is to make sure we build on all the exciting and transformational work we’ve already put in place, so we continue to be seen as a pioneering Trust, delivering brilliant healthcare supported by the latest technology.

Summarise your career background

Locally, I have worked for West Yorkshire Police Digital team working on multiple IT projects and supported regional projects between the Yorkshire Forces.  On a national level I have worked for Highways England in the IT Department which has given me a good insight on the workings of central government.

What is the highlight of your career so far?

There have been multiple ones, but one that sticks out is delivering a HR and Payroll System for Highways England.  In theory the project should not have been deliverable in the timescales/budget we had, but the people I worked with that on that project made it a success and enjoyable to work with.

Sum up your role in three words

Thought-provoking, exhilarating, motivating

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

Police Officer

Who is your hero/heroine and why?

My parents – for all the hard work/sacrifices they have made in supporting me.  My work ethic has been instilled from my dad who worked as a mechanic fixing ambulances for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service for over 30 years.

When you are not at work, how do you relax?

Spending time with my family and I am an armchair sports fan.  Also, I love going to restaurants!

What is your favourite place?

Yorkshire Coast and North Yorkshire Countryside

What would people be surprised to know about you?

I was at Headingly when Ben Stokes rescued the test match in 2019. Needless to say I enjoyed that day immensely!
