We are now in the "Go See" phase of our plans to transform how our hospital services are delivered in Halifax and Huddersfield... and this week went to see Airedale's ED.

The "Go See" phase involves visiting some of the most modern healthcare facilities in the country looking at design, ideas and practices which could be included in our own plans for developing our new ED sites at both CRH and HRI.

So far we've been to Hull (for their ED  and Learning Centre facilities) and Derby (ED)  and Airedale on Monday. The hospitals were chosen as they had been recommended by colleagues here at CHFT or are known to be NHS centres of excellence.

Our Reconfiguration Transformation Manager, Nicola Bailey, said: “We are at another step along the way to transforming our hospital services. Our  current EDs  date back to the 1960s (HRI) and early 2000s (CRH) so looking at more modern facilities,  and how their teams care for their patients after ED arrival, is very useful and will inform our progress and future building works at both our sites."

Andy Lockey, Janet Youd, Louise Croxall and Becky Isles went on the Airedale Go See with Nicola. The ED there is next to a 48-bed acute assessment unit  and an ambulatory care lounge.

** The Clinical Design Principles phase which ran during the last quarter of last year has now concluded so a big thank-you to everyone in all areas who attended the sessions and shared their thoughts and feedback with us. We are pulling together the main themes which emerged  (as well as those from our public events) and these will feed into our  final Design Brief.
