She started her career when Abba were at the top of the charts with The Winner Takes it All, and now staff nurse Karen Buckley has retired - after spending pretty much the last 20 years working in the fracture clinic.

Karen started back in August 1980, and spent 20 years working on the medical wards before moving to orthopedic outpatients in 2000. 

Karen said "I have worked with some fantastic people and have a lot of great memories to take away with me.

"I am retiring for a better work/life balance and to see more of my granddaughter, my children and my mum. I want to thank everyone involeved for the lovely lunch and leaving presents."

Matron Rachel Roberts, said: "New Year’s Eve wasn't just the end of the year, it was the end of an era.

"We wanted to thank Karen for all her hard work and contribution to nursing in outpatients over the years. Karen provided support and leadership to the outpatient services over the years and this has been appreciated - she'll be missed."
