Many congrats to our Overseas Supervisor, James Pickles who has been awarded the Chartered Management Institute Student of the Year by Huddersfield Business School.

James has worked at CHFT for over eleven years now starting on the bank in June 2008 originally in Health Records (now Records Services) and has been working in the Overseas Team for the past three years.

Last year, he studied at Huddersfield University for the Certificate of Management Studies (CMS). It covers a wide range of management topics and has modules dedicated to self-development and your own workplace. These practical sessions were very useful and it was interesting learning from others in the group that worked in industry and private companies.

It was a year-long course and he graduated in July. All classroom sessions were on an evening and the coursework was completed in his spare time.  He said: " My routine was to arrive in the office early and to complete an hour of coursework before starting work."

He enrolled on the course to further his professional development and because he felt the need to challenge himself.

Completing the CMS gives him the option to go on and do the Masters (MBA) but he's having a year out first!

He added: "Hopefully, I will continue on to the MBA in the next couple of years. This is a two year course at Huddersfield but is spread over three years at other universities so I imagine it would be quite intense.

"Both the team and the management team were very supportive and were a good sounding board throughout."
