This week, friends from the Sikh temple came to celebrate Guru Nanak's 550th anniversary* at HRI.... with 300 samosas.

Hospital Chaplain George Spencer, said: "I was very pleased the Sikh community in Huddersfield thought of including the hospital in the celebrations of Guru Nanak's 550th birthday.

"It is an established custom for members of both Sikh temples to come and pray every November in the hospital as part of the national movement of prayer for the Health Service, so the two events have been combined this year to produce a happy celebration.

"There is nothing like food to bring people together, and patients, staff and visitors enthusiastically consumed 300 samosas, donated by the Temples, in about three quarters of an hour. We are grateful to them for their social concern and generosity."

There will be a second event held tomorrow at CRH from 11:30am - 1pm.
