They finally did it! After two failed attempts due to the weather (and carrying Anne King onto the plane), our fab Community District Nurses completed their team skydive!

Donations for Overgate are already topping £3200, so it was worth the wait.

Community staff nurses Anne King and Ansah Jamil were joined by fellow staff nurses Julie Talbot, Morgana Gosnal-Tyler, Amy Jewkes, plus healthcare assistant Caron Bowers and district nurse Vicky Storey at the dive last Sunday 3rd November.

Here Ansah fills us in on what turned out to be a long, but fun-filled day:

"It was an early start as we were up at 5.00am to get to Bridlington for 7.30am. It was our third attempt due to the weather. What a day - the weather was absolutely fab.

"Everyone was super excited and giddy, and we had some of our families come over to support.

"The tandem instructors kept telling us we were their practice students so they were going to leave a few straps open to make us feel more nervous! Anne had to be picked up to put on the plane as she couldn’t get in because she was too short - she'll never forget that I'm sure!

"We celebrated afterwards at the seaside with fish and chips and donuts.  It was a brilliant day and we all want to thank everyone for their kind donations - it really is a massive cause close to our hearts. We have seen and experienced the impact Overgate hospice has on the lives of many patients, individuals and families and the outstanding level of commitment and compassion they always strive to provide with love and care".

You still have time to donate on their Just Giving page.
