In order to better prepare our new graduate nurses starting on the Acute floors (MAU) cross site and build their knowledge base on Acute Medicine, the Clinical Education Team have designed and delivered our first bespoke "Introduction to Acute Medicine programme".

The programme consisted of five study days during the graduate nurses' training period. This included sessions from specialist speakers, group work and discussion, as well as some exciting simulations!

The topics covered related to common patient presentations on MAU and safe nursing management and treatment.

The Clinical Education team would like to thank all members of the multidisciplinary team that contributed to the successful delivery of the programme!

Feedback from some of the attendees included:

  • "Very helpful, staff very approachable and made it easy to learn. I would definitely recommend this to newly qualified."
  • "Sessions have been helpful and I feel I can implement the new skills I have developed in practice. I feel more confident going to work as a newly qualified."
  • "It nice to meet other people in the same position as you and be able to talk to them."
