EyesWise is an NHS project that aims to save sight and improve lives and CHFT colleagues are invited to share their experiences. (see link to survey below)

The project wants to gather the stories of patients, carers and staff about their experience of using eye services since April 2018.

That's the date when the 100 voices campaign was launched. It is backed by Royal National Institute for Blind People, the Macular Society and the International Glaucoma Association and it also feeds into the work being undertaken to implement the outpatient transformation commitments of the NHS Long Term Plan.

As one of the highest volume outpatient specialties, ophthalmology is a key focus.

100 Voices gives the opportunity to celebrate success, highlight achievements to staff, colleagues, patients, and the wider community.

This major patient engagement initiative will encourage local systems to work closely with any patients who express an interest in getting further involved, drawing on their experience and expertise, to co-design further transformation for the future.

Stories will also be shared with the public via the NHS England and NHS Improvement channels to raise awareness of the transformation of ophthalmology services.

We asked Natalka Drapan - pictured:

What do we do well to care for our patients? We are all dedicated and friendly staff putting our patients first. Keeping up with transformations to provide the best possible care for our patients, for example working towards the one stop cataract clinic, structures within the macular service and telephone clinics.

What do you think of the 100 Voices campaign?

100 voices will allow patients  and staff  to be heard and share their experiences to help shape the future of the ophthalmology department. Not only will it help us as a trust but also nation wide. The only way we can ensure we are providing a well run service is by listening to the stories from the people who receive and deliver our care and I believe 100 voices will give us a real sight into this.
