HRI's Ward 3 said a fond farewell to Jane Roebuck (pictured fourth on the left) who's retired at the Trust after working here since 2005. She had trained in 1977 and went off on her travels including China, where she volunteered in mainland for two consecutive years at a childrens school to teach basic English.

She also went to Hong Kong and India! She has been a district nurse and even worked in films at the Pinewood Studio. She then started working here at the Trust and has loved her time on Ward 3.

She says: "I have loved working here - everything about it and I would do it all again."

She said her team made working special. "My team are extremely supportive, caring and compassionate. What’s special is, if one of us is having a bad day, we can share it with the team. Ward 3 are not only a credit to the Vascular services, but this trust.

And she has a special approach to caring for her patients.  "If you follow the Trust's Four Pillars, you can’t go wrong. I would say always treat a patient like they are a member of your family."

She admits she'll miss lots. "I'll miss the patients, my colleagues and having fun. It is a hard job but we do have fun!"

Her two horses will figure in her future plans.

"Well I’ve got two retired race horses which I’ve had since I was five years old. I am going to start riding them regularly to get them fit and would like to start them in competitions in race horse classes."

"I'm not going to renew my passport and I want to do more sewing which I already do."

We wish you all the best Jane.
