Our pioneering ED/AMU Palliative Care Project  enabling us to deliver palliative care early in a patient's journey has been short-listed in the Innovation Category at the Macmillan Professional Awards.

It ran from June 2017 to December 2018  and pioneered by Julie Wood  (who left CHFT earlier this year) and  Helen Harris pictured at work with her colleagues.

Helen thanks her Palliative Care and Acute Medicine colleagues who agreed (some rather reluctantly) to being interviewed, snapped and filmed.

The face to face judging, before a panel of experts, was held in London during July. Helen was able to articulate the benefits of proactively delivering Specialist Palliative Care much earlier in the patient’s hospital stay.

The winners will be announced on 7th November during the annual Macmillan Professionals Conference in Birmingham.

Helen has had a lot of interest in the project from other Trusts who have been to visit Huddersfield and gain more understanding of the work. She will be presenting the project as a poster at the Macmillan Conference so she can further share the learning.
