The Trust has now successfully completed the rollout of new devices called AirVO2 across both hospitals.

They were launched earlier this year at HRI and earlier this month were successfully rolled out at CRH.

The AirVO2 delivers a mix of high flow oxygen and air, it is required for our sickest patients when they require high levels of oxygen. This device replaces the Optiflow device; immediately staff and patients commented on how much quieter and user friendly the AirVo2 was.

Pictured are photos of the physios moving all the machines from Medical Engineering to the wards.

Heather Moffat,  clinical specialist in Respratory Physiotherapy, said: "It did look quite amusing with them trying to fit all 12 machines into the lift (there's probably a joke in there!). The whole roll-out has been very much a team effort with a number of teams supporting me to make this happen."

The key teams:

Critical Care Outreach and HOOP

Inpatient Physios

Medical Device Trainers

EBME and Medical Engineering

Clinical Nurse Educators

Procurement

Ongoing training is available via the Medical Devices drop in sessions.

We also have access to training Apps which are on the nerve centre ipods and Youtube videos to support training.

Staff can download these Apps onto their own phones if they wish to.

They just need to scan the QR codes which are on the bottom of the competency form which is  attached.
