We currently use Fortisip Compact as our first line nutritional supplement.  However, we regularly find it is a challenge to meet the protein requirements of our client group.

For this reason from Monday 3rd August 2015 we will be switching to Fortisip Compact Protein as the ‘standard’ adult sip feed and consequently will be running down our stock of the Fortisip Compact range with a view to no longer stocking it in the future.

The main nutritional profile of both supplements (per 125ml bottle) is shown below

FORTISIP COMPACT                        FORTISIP COMPACT PROTEIN

Calories                               300 kcal                                                300 kcal

Protein                                 12 grams                                              18 grams

Your dietitian will prescribe the appropriate supplement on the drug chart.

During the transition period you may find your ward has a stock of Fortsip Compact to use up, so please use this first instance before you start to use the  Fortisip Compact Protein version.

The request form for adult sip/tube feeds will be updated on the Clinical Documentation Repository to include Fortisip Compact Protein.  Fortisip Compact will be removed from the request form when our stocks have been depleted.

If you have any queries please contact the Dietetic Department on HRI 2749 or CRH 4267
