Paediatrics are excited at their new project - setting up a new Youth Forum to make sure ''the child's voice is heard.'' They're looking for young people aged between 10 and 19 from all backgrounds, whether they've been a patient at CHFT or not - all in the spirit of making things better for our young patients.

Sister in Children's Outpatients, Louise Riby, told us: "We're really excited about the new forum and are hoping our colleagues will be able to help too, as we know many have young children.

"We are looking for children of all backgrounds. They will be involved in the development of services and will also help us mould some services from the very start.

"We will be running some training for the group with the help of our consultants, but the first thing is to get some volunteers."

The forum will support our work with NHS Improvement on Transition* as well as other pieces of work such as looking at the environment for young people in adult areas here at CHFT.

*Transition is a gradual process of change, which gives everyone time to ensure that young people and their families are prepared and feel ready to make the move to adult health care. The process should start at around 12 years of age but will depend on individual circumstances.
