HRI radiographer Naomi Wareham and her partner Andre are celebrating the birth of their little boy Reagan and they wanted to give a huge shout out to everyone on the HRI Birth Centre for the care they all received.

First child Reagan (Celtic for Little Ruler) was born on 26th July in what midwives called a “textbook birth”.

Naomi*, who lives with Andre in Huddersfield, told CHFT Weekly: “We transferred our care to the HRI Birth Centre at 36 weeks. As soon as we stepped through the doors we felt at home, and a bonus was we knew Andre would be able to stay over when the time came to have the baby.

“One of the most positive aspects for us both was that whenever we were there Andre felt part of the discussions that were taking place, rather than the focus just always being on me as the mum-to-be.

“My midwife helped keep me calm during labour as I’d decided to only have paracetamol as pain relief."

Birth Centre Manager, Carol Sarr told us, “It’s so fantastic to get such positive feedback for the HRI Birth Centre. The fact that Naomi had such a great experience of continuity of care from week 36 of her pregnancy is testament to the team there.

“As well as their pre-natal care, we were delighted Naomi and Andre chose to give birth at HRI and they’ve also had their post-natal care there too.

“It’s rather exciting, and I’m proud we could fully support our colleague at the same time.”

*Naomi has worked at CHFT for 11 years, when she started working in Medical Records, and she's been in the x-ray department at HRI for around five years.
