We are looking for flu buddies to support our 'Flu immunisers for this year's campaign.

Being protected isn’t just about giving or having the jab.  Our immunisers need support with helping people to understand the campaign, myth busting, and recording when each jab has been given. The month of October will be our peak ‘Jabathon’ and there’s an opportunity for non-clinical colleagues to get involved.

We are looking for 20 Flu Buddies preferrably from non-clinical roles to work alongside our immunisers, learn about the campaign and get involved with direct patient care. 

Are you up for it?  You’ll need to have an hour and a half’s training in September and then you’re all set to go in October.

Once trained, our influenza campaign supporters will:

• Have a general knowledge of the nature of influenza infection 
• Have a knowledge of the vaccines used for the staff influenza campaign
• Will understand and support the staff campaign plan
• Will assist the immunisers in engaging colleagues to consider having a vaccine
• Help to dispel flu myths by sharing flu facts
• Act as an immuniser’s assistant during busy vaccination sessions - either at drop in sessions or flu vaccine “walk abouts”
• Assist with data inputting of vaccines given or declared or declined via the Flu app portal
• Flu support assistant activity will be required primarily during October
• Each support worker will need to commit to a 1.5 hour training session ( see below for details)
• Each support worker will need to commit to a minimum of 2 hours support work
