It may look like a piece of paper, but it's the document signed with Leeds which confirms our Associated Teaching Trust status for the next five years.

We have been a Associated Teaching hospital for the past 10 years, so to add another five years on to that is a great achievement to all colleagues involved in supporting our placements.

We offer placements to approximately 500 Leeds Medical Students each year who are in either their 3rd, 4th or 5th year of study.  The placements cover most specialties, and every August without fail we have Leeds medical school graduates joining us as Foundation Year One doctors.

We always receive tremendous feedback from our students. Here are some of the great things they've said about being on placement here...an uplifting read:

3rd Year General Medicine and General Surgery

Every morning they would ask what I wanted to learn today and they would try and help me do that. This was really helpful as it meant I could really tailor my day to my learning needs.     They also got me really invovled on the ward round which made it a lot more interesting.

4th Year Paediatric Placement

The staff in Calderdale, were incredible in terms of being supportive and taken time to teach all of us there on placement. Overall this placement was brilliant and really helped with my learning and also increasing my passion for medicine.

The BEST placement I've ever been on. The staff, the learning opportunities, the teaching, it was all fantastic. really really happy. I could list every single aspect as the best.

5th Year Integrated Medicine and Surgery Placement

All the doctors were great teachers!

Very varied timetable, friendly staff that were eager to get us involved in the team, excellent teaching.

Late shifts on MAU and SAU provided many opportunities to practice clinical skills. Assisting in theatre was also fun as the surgeons were enthusiastic teachers.

4th Year Obs and Gynae Placements

Really enjoyed being with the different staff on labour ward (midwives and doctors) and felt involved in the patient's care.

I really enjoyed my time on the Labour Ward. The staff were exceptional, welcoming and got me involved.

4th Year, Acute Medicine, Anaesthesia and A&E Placements

All staff on the wards were helpful and friendly, especially Anaesthetics and ICU consultants. Junior doctors on AMU and in A&E were also excellent in teaching opportunities

3rd Year Special Senses (ENT and Ophthalmology) Placements

Administrative staff at Calderdale and Huddersfield were very friendly and helpful. Also many of the consultants always found time to explain things if needed

4th Year Oncology Placements

Every member of staff, from the learning centres, to the wards, were so friendly and helpful. The junior doctors on the ward were so kind and happy to take time to explain situations and why certain decisions were made
