Brighouse based The Health Informatics Service (THIS) spent its 10th anniversary year raising £2100 for charities in Halifax, Huddersfield and Wakefield.

THIS is hosted by Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.  Originally two internal IT departments, the merger with Wakefield Health Informatics Service in 2004 has seen the organisation grow over the last 10 years and the company now supports more than 30 businesses.

In 2014 it was decided THIS would hold a celebratory year when money would be raised for local charities throughout the whole year. Overgate, Wakefield and Kirkwood Hospices were chosen because they receive support for their Information, Management and Technology (IMT) services.

Business Manager Tracy Mundell said “All of our 190 employees have really got behind our celebratory year, and it was a huge success. It brought our teams together, helped develop our corporate identity and means that we are also able to donate £700 to each of our chosen charities”.

“The approach to fund-raising was a broad one” added Tracy.

“Some teams looked to raising sponsorship through sporting events, whilst others held baking competitions and cake stalls. There was even a timed ‘Top Gear’ lap on a games console held during lunchtimes.

Additionally there was a charity summer ball funded by staff with a great meal and live band, as well as dress down days and the Movember moustache challenge!
