In September 2017 our former POD Clinical Lead, Caroline Sellers, and  former POD Co-ordinator, Kirsty Jowett,  approached Tesco for help to provide a Dignity Wardrobe.

They had realised we had a  ‘gap’ in our ability to provide dignified care which needed attention and set out to apply for a ‘Tesco Bags of Help’ grant.

They both worked on leading the Engagement Support Workers and Enhanced Carers, and a repeat area of concern highlighted back to them was the lack of clothing provision within the hospital to enable our patients to feel dignified, comfortable and confident to ‘sit out’ and interact in public spaces.

The grant was applied and for and successfully secured, whilst both Caroline and Kirsty have since changed job roles they were keen to visit the team and learn from them how they feel this will benefit our patients in the future.

They both were incredibly proud of how far the team collectively has come, and the added spaces created since they moved on for our vulnerable patients. They were honoured to be invited back, and look forward to seeing the monies go to good use for the benefit of our patients
