Our Calderdale Bladder and Bowel Service have featured in the latest edition of the Nursing Standard.

Their excellent approach to sharing the importance of continence care has been cited as best practice.

Lead Nurse for Bladder & Bowel Service, Sharon Holroyd, said:  "Our team has been used as an example of an excellent service within our speciality.

"I was approched by the Nursing Standard as I'm a member of the Royal College of Nursing Committee for Continence Care. They wanted to feature a service that has excellent standards and best practice - so they came to us.

The article (see attached) aims to break down the taboos of talking about continence issues, making people aware of the important role it plays in overall health and wellbeing.

Sharon added: "We're unusual to many other service providers as we deliver an integrated service, seeing patients as young as four, through to adolescents, adults and older adults.

"I am very proud of the team and their achievements given the challenges they have faced over the past 11 months".

The team are community-based though they also support patients at HRI and CRH.
