Our Head of Occupational Health and Wellbeing, Christine Bouckley is the head chef of the Health and Wellbeing recipe card in The Cupboard.

She's also excited about our first ever Wellbeing Support Champions Forum coming up on the 14th of June (see attached).

We asked Christine more about how she likes to stay fit and well  -  and also her guilty pleasures too:

Do you exercise and what’s your favourite activity to do at the moment?

I love walking in to work. It’s a great way to unwind after a busy day, and avoid traffic stress - and walking in means I'm ready to go when I get here, and easily clock up my 10,000 steps a day. Varying my route keeps the walk interesting, and if I've a little more time I may go the long way round the canal to see the ducks and bluebells.

Have you been a gym member before? If so what did you get out of it?

I'm not really a gym bunny - but I do like to dance and enjoy any kind of dance type exercise and I’m pretty snazzy with the power hoop!

What’s your guilty food pleasure?

I love food generally - but probably a good curry - and chocolate!

What’s your favourite drink?

I confess I'm a bit of a coffee snob - and enjoy a good red wine

Do you have a Health and Wellbeing idol, and why?

Mary Berry - who quotes a slice of cake a day is great for your mental wellbeing! I totally agree, but have a job keeping to the one slice bit!

Have you ever smoked? If so how did you give up?

I’ve never smoked - but remember as a child being sent to buy cigarettes for my mum when she was ill. Of course I was refused them at the counter, but thinking back mum must have been pretty desperate to send me, and I think stopped herself at that time! Dad smoked a pipe, and I do miss the smell of his tobacco pouch. Perhaps this was enough for me and I never was tempted to start myself!

Any other interesting facts that might help others around wellbeing?

Learning something new and keeping connected with people are also great for wellbeing - In the past few years I have learned to play clarinet and get the basics of French but my current project is a painting class and ballroom dancing. I enjoy having a go at new challenges – any suggestions? - Maybe the new CHFT choir is calling??

Why not take a look at the Health and Wellbeing Recipe Card in The Cupboard - you never know, it might have some snippets of guidance that will help support you here at CHFT.
