A family came into HRI to make a moving presentation in memory of a baby they lost many years ago.

Jonathan Sykes, his sister Chrissy and his mother Margery Fairbank presented £5k for our Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).  It was presented in memory of Jonathan's mum's  third child who was still -born and delivered at HRI years ago. As well as this generous donation, the family had a plaque created for the HRI Birth Centre.

The baby boy would have been Jonathan and Chrissy's younger brother and it was an opportunity for their mum remember him.

The Trust plans to use the money to hopefully improve FSS staff's environment. The donation was made from the mum's living will.

Director of Operations for Family and Specialist Service (FSS), Gill Harries (bottom left in photo) thanked them for taking the time to come in and make the presentation.

She said: " Thanks  for making the time to come and present us with the cheque  for £5K as part of your Mum's living will. It is lovely to meet you all and, for us, to understand the rationale behind your generous gift and what it meant to you as a family."

" We plan to use the donation to improve service for mums and babies in our SCBU in Calderdale, and the plaque will be displayed at the HRI Birth Centre where the presentatuon was made."
