Our multi-talented ISS security officer Andy Hardie's latest painting will make us all "Sing".

It's of Halifax-born global superstar Ed Sheeran and Andy's donated it to the Macmillan Unit at CRH after a routine patrol made him think about some artwork which might appeal to our younger patients visiting the unit.

Ed was born at Halifax General in1991 and lived in Hebden Bridge until his family moved to Suffolk when he was a child.  

Andy,  we reckon definitely in the "A-Team"  of talented artists, has worked for 17 years at CRH. He said:  “I just thought that there are lots of lovely paintings around the unit, and wondered if I could help donate something a little more modern to suit some of the younger people who may visit.

"Ed is a local lad so I offered my acrylic painting to them."

Cancer Care Co-ordinator Mandy Davies, pictured right with Andy and receptionist Zoe Sired, said: “Andy’s work is really amazing! We’re very grateful he thought of us and it was a real pleasure accepting the painting on behalf of the unit”.

Andy, added: “My mum, dad and sister died of cancer so giving something to the unit feels the right thing to do".

Whilst he was there he showed the team more of his artwork  including a John Lennon acrylic which was  handed across to Zoe and Haematology Nurse, Rebekah Ramsden. 

Previously he donated some of his other paintings to colleagues across the Trust - see attached photo.

** Andy has also donated a painting to Mr Parker from the fracture clinic. He signed it “from one artist to another."

** Medical secretary Amanda Green contacted Andy after seeing his Butterfly painting donated to ward 8 at HRI last year.  She said: “I thought I’d just be really cheeky and see if he had anything spare. The next thing he came into the office with the painting of the cow”.
