It was No Smoking Day yesterday and our Trust's Maternity Team are working with NHS Improvement to reduce the number of women who smoke during their pregnancy, which can cause added complications for them and their babies.

Our Lead Midwife for Public Health, Kate Heighway also took the opportuntiy to survey people's views about smoking and shelters at hospitals.

The day first started on Ash Wednesday back in 1984 and now runs every year on the second of  Wednesday on March aimed at supporting people to stop and reduce the dangers of passive smoking.

It is aimed at supporting people if they wish to quit and making people aware of all the methods out there available to help them.

If you're one of the 750, 000 people who pledged to quit smoking our CHFT Guide to health and wellbeing has lots of hints and tips, including links to various website that can help such as Smoke Free NHS.
