Sue Laycock and Helen Barker enjoyed a posh frocks night out at the finals of the NHS Unsung Hero Awards.

Helen nominated Sue for being both an amazing colleague and friend aswell.  They both worked together at Bradford before CHFT and are so close out of work their husbands joined them.

The gala night was at the Hilton in Deansgate, Manchester and Sue, Helen's PA and Helen, our Chief Operating Officer and their husbands enjoyed the ceremony and all the stories of amazing NHS people.

Sue said: " The evening was amazing and the room was full of extremely talented people.  Helen, myself and the other guests at our table were treated to free inhouse entertainment provided by our two husbands, Karl and Tony,  along with a magician and a surprise guest - Anthony Cotton from Coronation Street) - see photo. It was a night to remember.  I send my thanks to Helen for your nomination and for being a true friend and an amazing person to work with."

Sue said the winner of her category was so outstanding she didn't have her shoes on under the table as she was so sure he'd won. " He was amazing and truly truly deserved to win. I'd have been disappointed if he hadn't and the whole night showed just wonderful the NHS is to work for and the wonderful people in it."

Helen said: " We had a fabulous night  with some amazing stories. It was a privilege to join Sue on her night and we’ll certainly be getting lots of nominations in next year as I know we have lots of other unsung heroes caring for patients and each other everyday here in CHFT

** Congratulations also to our healthcare colleagues from Calderdale Council Maggie Butterfield and Helen Kirwin who were nominated in the Patient Choice category for their work supporting families who bring their children to CHFT to eye clinics.

They work for the Council's Visual Impairment Team which regularly supports and reassures families with children who need to come into our clinics  for CHFT eye care.
