The Community Immunisation Team were formed in 2015 and are responsible for the school-age vaccination programme in Calderdale.

Their dedication to keeping children protected recently saw them immunise children against 'flu in a church as they rehearsed for their school nativity play, and they also went to a group who were on a field trip....in a field!

The six-man team are in the middle of their campaign to vaccinate Year 9 pupils against Meningitis ACWY and Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio. Standing at 95% they are currently achieving well above the national target of 90% for vaccination uptake.

And throughout Calderdale they offer the 'flu nasal spray to 18,000 children in primary schools. They're currently hitting their own target of immunising 65% of children, which is another great achievement.

In April Bev Walker officially takes up the role of Director of Operations for Community. Bev said: "This is a credit to them and the result of the team’s tireless efforts and hard work to contact parents and promote and encourage immunisation.

"The team always go the extra mile to ensure children can be immunised and alongside school sessions, they also offer clinic appointments and home visits if required. They have even vaccinated in a church and in a field!".
