Community staff at Allan House (AH)  in Sowerby Bridge will miss administrator Linda Mitchell. To commemorate her retirement many took to Facebook to add their thoughts and comments on a treasured friend and colleague.

After working at AH for 13 years, and memorably putting in huge efforts to lead the clear-up campaign in her wellies after the Boxing Day floods of 2015 which made her our second first Star Award winners, it's understandable.

Her team came together to thank her and wish her well as she looks forward to making new plans.

Locality Manager, Tracey O'Keefe, said: "No words can describe the lovely person that you are and you will leave a massive void in the hearts of us all at Allan House and within community nursing.

"You always put others first, your team and the patients you deal with, and go above and beyond the call of duty. A prime example being the boxing day floods 2015. Even though you were on holiday, you were there with your red wellies and sweeping brush in hand co- ordinating the clean-up operation with the locals of Sowerby bridge and staff

"It did not stop there you pushed and pushed to get the Annexe refurbished and services back in operation for the community of Sowerby Bridge. Because of your dedication you won a Star Award in January 2016 from Owen Williams.

"Allan House will never be the same without you.  Your organisation, tidiness, commitment and the joy and happiness you bring to the team. You have also supported your admin colleagues at our other community sites and were never phased at having to take a couple of buses or catch a train to get there!

But we understand it’s time for you to turn your computer off, hand over your duties, pack your case and catch a flight to Australia and see your beautiful grandchildren and daughter.

P.S. please can we Skype you when we need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Linda told us "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Allan House, especially the patient contact. My highlight has to be getting our annex building back up and running after the 2015 Boxing Day floods.

"I will miss the staff I work with, especially all the Allan House District Nurse team, and big thanks to them for everything they have done for me over the last few months….I consider them to be my work family".

Some of the Facebook quotes included:

"She will be missed beyond words...we will remain forever a work family"

"May peace and love surround you. You will be missed deeply by many, but you know where you're destined to be, sending all the love in the world"

"End of an era, and as everyone says you will be missed - good luck on your adventures"
