The West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT) want to make it easier for colleagues to work across the region for their own personal development and to provide the best possible services for our patients and those who use our services.

Up until now, when working on a temporary basis in another Trust - such as on secondment, or visiting from another trust, colleagues have required an honorary contract, which involves the host Trust undertaking pre-employment checks and colleagues completing the host trust’s mandatory training.

To enable colleagues to work as flexibly as possible across our organisations, the WYAAT trusts have signed an agreement which means colleagues who are competent to undertake roles, and are cleared to work in one of our organisations, can work in another WYAAT trust without the need for a honorary contract and all the associated checks.

Part of this flexibility includes host trusts accepting statutory and mandatory training completed in the employing trust.  This is great news, as it means you only need to be up-to-date with the mandatory training of your employing trust, rather than having to do two (or more) different sets of mandatory training.  Of course, you may have to be inducted in local procedures such as fire and safety or infection prevention.

Overall, your employing organisation continues to be responsible for your employment, but this agreement should give you greater flexibility to work across our six trusts, should you wish to do so.

If you have any questions about this, please speak to Executive Director of Workforce and OD, Suzanne Dunkley or a member of our HR team.
