Former Leeds Rhinos and Halifax rugby league player Damian Gibson is heading up a new fitness programme and CHFT colleagues are invited to take part.

Back Onside is a free 10-week course  for men who haven't excercised for a while, and who are looking to get fitter by training with current and former players.

And for others amongst you keen to get a little more healthy in 2019, there is always the hugely successful Couch to 5K programme - designed to get you off the sofa and running in just nine weeks.

Last year Damian gave up his time to train 20 local people from disadvantaged background to take part in the Great North Run.

The Back Onside sessions run by HRLFC are the first of four, 10 week courses funded by Sport England over the next two years.

There are spaces for around 16 people - and it's free. It is set indoors at 3GI Soccer in Halifax, so the winter weather won't get in the way of your fitness regime!

Each fortnight there will be a change of focus on the programme - whether it's fun rugby based fitness, football, dodgeball, circuits or other. Basically - the fitter you become through the programme the more you'll be able to do.

Our Occupational Health Team (part of Workforce and Organisational Development) have some great intranet pages covering all elements of health and wellbeing including the Couch to 5k programme - included as part of the Get Active pages

Why not take a look at what's on offer? It might be just what you need in 2019!
