Carole Hallam  moved onto pastures new with her last CHFT day on Christmas Eve. She will be joining the Y&H Academic Health Science Network as Quality Improvement Manager.

A send-off was staged in the Learning Centre, HRI where colleagues sent their well-wishes to Carole and thanked her for all her support and hard work over the many years she has worked here.

Medical Director David  Birkenhead spoke in tribute to her CHFT career and dedication.

He thanked Carole for her years of service to CHFT. In particular he highlighted the many years that they have known and worked together, how much he valued and appreciated her extensive knowledge on infection prevention and control.

This dated from the times when he was sitting his exams as a registrar through to the extensive improvement work that Carole and he led on in relation to MRSA and C. difficile infections. David acknowledged the many thousands of patients that this work will have had benefited over the years.

He talked about her being a recognised expert in the field of vessel health, having being an invited speaker at several International Conferences on the subject. He recognised her work on other quality improvement initiatives, particularly relating to sepsis and mortality. David also recognised the work that Carole has done in Romania, and how she had received the Romanian equivalent of an MBE!
