Receptionist Hannah Crowther, right, pulled on her gloves and survived three rounds boxing  fund-raising for Cancer Research.

Some bake, others dress-down but our outpatient receptionist decided to climb into the ring for the first time ever. She trained hard for eight weeks and loved it – despite a tense moment after the final bell.

The  charity bout – organised by Ultra White Collar Boxing on Instagram -  was held at North Bridge Leisure Centre, Halifax on December 1 and she needed paramedics and oxygen at the end.

She said: “ After the bell at the end I fell to the floor and I wasn’t responding. Boxing is all about breathing and I hadn’t been doing it properly. But I came round and I’d do it all again.”

Initially she did it to lose weight – and dropped 10lbs but now she wants to carry on and doesn’t want to quit.

She added: “  When we started sparring I did wonder what I was doing. I wanted to lose weight and hadn’t thought about people hitting me.”

The result was a draw after three rounds and she’s keen to carry on.

“Afterwards, so many people were coming up to me and wanted to have their photo with me. I felt like a real boxer. It was great.”

She’s thanked her colleagues in Outpatients for all their support helping her to nearly £400 for Cancer Research.

She added: “ I know people and families – mine included - who have been affected by cancer in some way.”
