Here's more from Liz:

How long have you worked in the NHS and why did you want to?
I started working for the NHS and GU Medicine on 13 October 2008.  I’d always wanted to work in a clinic/hospital environment but hadn’t had the opportunity in the past and but always loved watching Casualty and Holby City!  I didn’t quite know what I was letting myself in for at GU Medicine, as we were then before we merged with CASH in 2012, but it proved to be the best job I’ve ever done and still love my job.

Why is it special to you?
I’ve always admired the NHS, it’s unique and set up to care for everyone in the community.  The service my family, friends and I had received from the Doctors and Nurses is always second to none.  I’m immensely lucky to be part of such an amazing team.  Sexual Health Services can be a butt of jokes, but we all do an amazing job and got a special mention in the CQC assessment and nominated for a Celebrating Success entry this year for working together to get results.

What present/wish would you give it for its special birthday.
It would have to be enough resources, or an increase in resources, to keep the NHS going for another 70 years and to exceed the care that it currently gives.  We’re lucky in Calderdale Sexual Health that the Commissioners have taken the view not to cut our resources so we can continue to promote sexual health to all, let’s hope it stays that way.  Happy 70th birthday NHS!
