The Long Service awards were held last night, in HRI boardroom.

A total of 395 NHS years in one room last night! With one married couple who had celebrated their 25 years of service together, Rob and Sandra Birkinshaw.

They two met at Pontefract Hospital in 1990, when Sandra was a student nurse and Rob was a junior doctor. They joined CHFT and now Rob is a Consultant in A&E and Sandra works in Antenatal and Newborn Screening.

They have been married for 22 years.

Sandra Birkinshaw said: “So happy to receive this award for my years of service and even happier to receive it with my husband”
