Sheila Taylor, left,  and Christine Mills are two of our new public governors elected this summer.

Every Foundation Trust has to have a Council of Governors to hold the Board to account for the performance of the Trust.

We have 16 publicly elected governors representing all the diifferent areas of our local communities covering  an area stretching from Todmorden to Holmfirth to Mixenden and Queensbury, and they are elected for three years.

Sheila and Christine both represent the constituency which covers the  areas of Birkby, Deighton, Paddock, Crosland Moor and Newsome.

We also have six staff governor positions covering all the staff groups and five stakeholder governors.

What made you apply to become a governor in this the NHS’s 70th year?

Seemed appropriate, as the NHSRF also celebrate their 40th year. I also for the past few years taken part in PLACE Inspections and Interview panels, and have thoroughly enjoyed them.  I felt now is the time to delve a little deeper.

What makes the NHS Special to you?

Having worked at HRI and enjoyed the experience so much, it is nice to give something back.  Not been a patient, but the NHS has helped and supported many members of my family and friends, we are so very lucky to have you.

What 70th birthday present would you give it?
A lottery win!
