A memorial event will be held on Monday so colleagues can pay their respects to Davine Grubb.

Davina died suddenly this week leaving colleagues in ophthalmology, MaxFax and in Surgical division devastated.

The event - led by our Chaplain George Spencer  - will be held in the Chapel at HRI from noon until 1.45 pm.

Consultant Rehna Khan will read a poem. Davina was Dr Khan's secretary as she was for Drs Indra Dias and Kamron Khan.

The ophthalmology secretaries - who all work closely with one another - have set up a book and flowers  triibute on Davina’s desk  (see photo)  and all her work colleagues are invited to write a message if they would like to.

Dr Khan, said: " Davina was so helpful and kind, she always greeted you with a smile. She could not do enough and will be so terribly missed by everyone who knew her." Dr Khan will be reading this poem.

Life is but a stopping place,

A pause in what’s to be,

A resting place along the road,

To sweet eternity

We all have different journeys,

Different paths along the way,

We all were meant to learn some things,

But never mean to stay…

Our destination is a place,

Far greater than we know.

For some the journey’s quicker,

For some the journey’s slow.

And when the journey finally ends,

We’ll make a great step forward,

And find an everlasting peace,

As our special reward.
