Our colo-rectal nurse specialists staged their annual open day for our patients and their families and there was a tremendous turnout.

Briar Court Hotel at Birchencliffe was the setting and our team and supporters provided a showcase of all the support available.

This included stands hosted by specialist underwear-makers Vanilla Blush - hence the pull-up poster featuring a male model pictured behind our team, and also with Debbie Armitage attached. 

CNS Paula Pickersgill, said: “ This is a day which patients thoroughly enjoy coming to. It’s an opportunity for them to meet other patients in similar situations and as CNS’s this is a great to see patients getting on with their lives following what can be a very traumatic and upsetting time .

"Our patients are truly inspirational and its lovely to see them getting back to normal life following diagnosis and possible stoma formation.

"We build up a good rapport with these patients and are actively involved in their care pathway and where possible make their patient experience as good as possible.

"We also offer a review service for our patients as their recovery progresses. We offer patients a variety of supplies giving them lifestyle choices to suit them post-surgery and are proud of our reputation as offering the best one to one care for them.”
