Deputy Sister Lindsay Westmoreland left teacher training because she liked caring so much.  She's the second poet to feature in our year long campaign celebrating 70 years since Nye Bevan created the NHS.

Throughout the year it's been a pleasure to promote colleagues and their roles from all areas of the Trust.  Here's Lindsay's poem and below her thoughts in the momentous year for us all.

------------------------

Nursing is challenging, rewarding and tough,

Sometimes our best never seems enough,

But we come back and do it, day in and day out,

Because caring for our patients is what we're about

Patients are our focus 1,2 and 3

We care about each and everyone of you that we see

We glimpse into your lives happy or sad,

We try our best to help with the good and the bad,

The NHS is not perfect and nor are we,

But we strive every day to make it the best it can be,

So, I'd just like to say nursing makes me so proud,

And by this amazing organisation and team everyday I am wowed.

And more from Lindsay.

How long have you worked in the NHS and why? I have worked in the NHS for 20 Years, I initially wanted to be an English teacher in a French school, however I disliked college so went to do an NVQ in a care home, liked the caring profession so applied to University and as the saying goes the rest is history!

What makes the NHS special to you?
There is no other  healthcare organisation in the world that is available to all regardless of wealth. That’s pretty amazing!

What present / wish would I give the NHS?
My wish for the NHS is that it can continue to grow with the population and provide world class healthcare to all.  My present to it would be a lot more nurses and doctors!
