There has been an issue in offering additional training sessions due to a delay in receiving additional PDA’s from the supplier. In the interim, a process has been created to offer additional training courses (initially with limited places). These courses are available to view on the training booking system.

From this point please DO NOT contact the laboratory regarding training issues.

There will be no more ‘mop up’ training sessions after this time, so please ensure you attend the training sessions you require to perform your role. It is your responsibility to ensure you are appropriately trained so that we continue to put the patient first by not compromising their safety.

After this point the ‘Business as Usual’ (BAU) training sessions will start and will occur two days per month. Priority to BAU training slots will be given to new starters and cohorts joining the Trust.

Who needs to be trained?

All staff who participate in any part of the blood transfusion process must be trained and competency assessed in BloodTrack to enable them to access the system. Authorised (trained, competent) users will be able to utilise the BloodTrack system via Barcode technology.

Please have your staff ID badge and payroll number available at the training session. Without this we will be unable to assign you a user barcode and you will be unable to access the system until the information is provided.

Training options available

There will be 2 different training sessions available to book on:

  1. BloodTrack Courier

For all staff that are required to collect blood from the blood bank

(1 hour)

  1. BloodTrack Tx

All staff that take transfusion samples and /or administer blood components

(1 hour)

For staff that are required to do both of the above, then please book onto the   individual training sessions. These sessions could be longer than advertised.
