On Saturday the 13th of October, the bottom part of the hospital site at HRI is going to be used for a Major Hazmat incident involving Police, Fire and Ambulance. We're looking for willing volunteers who would like to get involved, and also give advance notice of reduced car parking.

If colleagues are interested in being a volunteer casualty on the day and see the other side of our emergency services, please email Keith (see below) and he’ll forward on your details to the fire service.

• This will be a multi-agency mass decontamination exercise taking place at the old nurses accommodation block at HRI. The scenario is that of a person or persons who have entered a student union bar and indiscriminately contaminated a group of people with a substance which is causing burns.
• Volunteers will be required to attend at 09:00 for briefing and make-up. During the scenario the volunteers will be put through a process of decontamination using the Fire and Ambulance resources. The decontamination process is a showering process and as such the volunteers will be required to wear several layers of clothing with swimsuit underneath.
• Catering will be provided and the exercise is expected to last until around 2pm
• We are looking for as many volunteers as possible to make this exercise as realistic as we can. Further details will be sent to persons once they have expressed an interest. Car parking info (we'll remind colleagues again nearer the time):

• No cars should be left overnight Friday and Saturday in either of Old Nurses Home car park, the Learning Centre and what is known as the old tennis court car park the one opposite the Estates. 
• In addition to this the non-tarmacked car park at Acre Mill will also be used as a holding area for emergency vehicles before they are requested at the incident. This will be for around an hour. If you use this car park, you might want to park toward the front of the car park, to give the emergency vehicles a clear run to the barrier.
