Health Visitors Sarah Maybury and Sue Jones from Children’s services are currently delivering a building community capacity project of post-natal buggy walks.

The walks take place in and around the Rastrick area, and they are primarily promoting them at the 3-4 month assessments but are open to families with children on the HV caseload. The walks are not restricted to the Rastrick caseload as some mums want to bring friends along too. The Buggy health walks last between 40 minutes to 80 minutes.

At the moment the team are undertaking a programme of four walks on a rolling programme.

Health Visitor, Sarah Maybury said: “The aim of the walks is to encourage mums to meet new people in a safe and supportive environment whilst promoting the physical and mental health benefits of walking. The response from the mums has been very positive and we are currently looking at involving partner agencies in future programmes”
