Incredible AquaGarden (part of the Incredible Edible Todmorden Group) is creating edible landscapes in the grounds of Calderdale Royal Hospital.

On Wednesday, June 17th, the team form Incredible AquaGarden, along with a group of volunteers form LLoyds Bank, Halifax, will be planting edibles in four sites, within the hospital grounds.

The two courtyards will have 'sensory' planters, containing herbs and other plants, which will be good to look at, to touch, to smell and to taste, which will bring a new dimension to the spaces.

The area in front of the Learning & Development building will have three raised 'kitchen garden' beds, containing summer vegetables, herbs and fruit.

There will be a new planter in front of the Macmillan building which will have a variety of herbs and edible flowers.

Creating edible landscapes, within our communities, brings numerous health and wellbeing benefits, both physical and mental, and hospitals and health centres are excellent locations, in which to do so.

Fruit trees and an apothecary garden already adorn the grounds of Todmorden Group Practice and we want to create a 'Green Route' from there through to HRH and beyond, using health centres as our hubs, for community growing.
