Colleagues gathered to say farewell to Research and Development's Jon as he retired after 20 years with us.

Jon joined R&D Department in June 1998 and as the R&D Co-ordinator Jon has supported numerous colleagues at CHFT in setting up research, providing expert advice and support.

His colleagues wished him farewell for a happy retirement. R&D Director Dr Cornelle Parker, said: "Jon will be missed by many of his colleagues. His tenacity and passion for research has been a valuable resource and his sharing of knowledge will be hugely missed. We wish him well for his retirement.’

Comms asked him for a few further comments.

  • What’s best about your job? Tracking scientific discoveries through the phases of research to the acceptance of the technology by NICE and introduction into routine practice. Many of these new technologies have been trialled by the trust e.g Herceptin (trastazumab), Humira (Adalimumab)
  • Do you have a highlight/funny moment we can print? I once read a research protocol where they intended to interview people after they had died!
  • What will you miss? Colleagues and the banter
  • Plans for the future?  Who knows?
