Thanks to our League of Friends' (LoF) supporters, our two hospitals now have extra kit if an emergency arises in our public areas, entrances or in our grounds.

If a person suffers a collapse or cardiac arrest the new inflatable hoists enable us to lift them more safely and easily.

The equipment is called a  Mangar Camel Lifting Cushion and the LoF have paid for two at a cost of more than £5,600. They are, in effect,  inflatable hoists and can be used anywhere, indoors or outside, and will lift a fall person with dignity while protecting both the carer and the person being lifted from injury.

The  Camel  is particularly suitable for larger people, is lightweight and simple to use. It is appropriate for any age, portable and packs away. It can be used indoors or out ( for example in  any part of our grounds)  and minimises moving and handling risks. 

The Resus training department demonstrated its use yesterday.
